Abe's Cot

Please enjoy your stay !

We have built Abe's Cot to provide nature lovers a home in the woods. Since this is an off grid cabin we would like to give some helpful recommendations and ask our guests to respect some basic rules.

• No smoking or open fire of any kind inside the cabin.

• No drugs.

• No parties. 

• Pets are welcome but please be responsible and don't leave your pet alone in the cabin. 

• The water comes directly from a natural spring and is very clean. Though it is a natural pool and it can become a little bleak when swimming in it. After a few minutes the flow of the water will have it cleared up again.

• The toilet is a simple outhouse. Please bring your own wet wipes.

• The cabin is heated by a wood stove. There is plenty of firewood stacked next to the cabin.

• The hot tub is wood-fired. It takes approx. 40 minutes to heat up and the stove needs to be refilled from time to time if you want it to stay hot during all your stay.

• Cooking can be done on the wood stove outside but there is also a gas stove and a barbecue. Please use them only outside.

• The cabin is not prepared for small children. ​

• The shower works as a bucket with a shower head. If you want a hot shower, you can add hot water from the tub or reheat it on the stove and fill it in the bucket. Please do not put the shower bucket directly on the stove as it would damage the shower head.

• When it is rainy or snow on the ground, please park your car at the parking in front of the cabin. Do not drive down the slope, since you might get stuck.

• Abe's Cot is designed for people who enjoy the simple life and proximity to nature.

• Electricity comes from a power bank with a generator. If you use more than 4 KW the generator starts automatically. We check the bank usually every day and charge it if necessary. Anyway it can happen that the generator starts at night when the consumption was very high in the evening. It will stop as soon as the bank is charged again, typically in approx. 40 minutes.
